Social Activities for Men San Mateo Branch |
![]() ![]() SIR: Make new friends for life, and have fun doing it! What is SIR? SIR San Mateo Branch 1 is a nonprofit social club for retired men. Our mission is simple: to enrich retirement through friendship, fun, and lifelong connections. Unlike many organizations, we don’t focus on fundraising, politics, or charitable causes. Instead, we bring members together through 14 weekly and monthly activities, including pickleball, golf, a book club, wine tasting, technology, cards, hiking, and more. Every activity is open to every member, and annual dues are just $40. Who are we? SIR San Mateo is home to more than 120 retired and semi-retired men, most of whom live in San Mateo County. Our members range in age from 55 to 90+, come from many different backgrounds, and share one thing in common—a desire to make new friends, stay active, and enjoy a wide variety of fun activities. Why are we doing this? Social connections aren’t just nice to have—they’re essential, especially as we get older. Research shows that loneliness and social isolation are linked to higher risks of dementia, serious health problems, and even premature death. The good news? It’s easy to do something about it. Don’t spend retirement alone. Come join a great group of like-minded men and see what SIR is all about. Click below and one of our Activities Directors will reach out to invite you to take a test drive on an activity or two to help you decide if SIR is right for you. |
